Hoteliers Bruce James and Harold “Spook� Stream teamed up to create Hotel Matilda, a space that celebrates contemporary Mexican art. Visitors here are greeted by the artwork of emerging local stars, as well as pieces by legends such as Diego Rivera, Bosco Sodi, and Aldo Chaparro. From the restaurant—one of Mexico’s finest with a globally inspired menu—to the 32 rooms and suites, traditional colonial style mixes with Mexican touches like textured wood, warm stucco, and marble, set against lush caramel-colored furnishings and bold pops of turquoise.
